...PATCHY DENSE FOG ACROSS THE REGION JUST EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS... At 9 AM...patches of dense fog lingered across the region along and just to the east of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Some locations, especially over the North Carolina foothills, still reported visibility down around one-quarter of a mile. The visibility was generally starting to improve across the area, but patches of dense fog may continue to cause problems for drivers through the middle part of the morning. If you encounter a fog bank...slow down...and use your low-beam headlights.
